Illumina Internship
Illumina
San Diego, California
Jun 2022 - Aug 2022
I was a summer intern for the Automation team within the Manufacturing Technology and Transfer (MTT) group. I conducted stakeholder interviews and analysis to identify functions within the Reagent Quality Control (RQC) group that can be automated. For example, processes with repetitive manual pipetting can be automated using robotic systems. Through this internship, I was able to improve my project management skills and work in an interdisciplinary team. The final findings of this project was a prioritized list of automation improvements and opportunities for the Automation team to address.
In addition to working on my individual project, I also was part of an intern group that aimed to support non-profit organizations. My specific non-profit was called Partners for College Success (PiCS). PiCS works with local underserved primary and secondary schools to help promote education and provide support to students who are pursuing higher education. My intern group was tasked with creating interactive STEM cirriculum for middle schoolers. As part of this project, I created tutorials and leading discussion questions for engineering projects.
